Zen AiO Z272 27" LCD Display died

drewmich
Star I

Zen Z272 user - have (2) in different offices - love them.

Today my home office AiO's Z272 screen flickered a couple times and went 100% dark.

As an IT tech and we have a repair lab in our telecom/data business - we run across various issues like this from time to time.

So I unplugged the power  ... waited a few min for the capacitators to discharge and before pluggging power back in - held the power button for 45 secs or so.  Then plugged power back in - pressed the power button and the small front power LED by the SD card slot shows ON ... I get a small amount of screenlight on the bottom left edge ... and that's it.   I tried this cycle a few times then just left it running.

I went to my other PC and we use ScreenConnect for remote access - so I remoted into that Z272 and it is running fine .... just no display output on the local screen?

Any tips?  I couldn't find anything helpful from a Google search.

Thanks!

Hi @drewmich ,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding the issue with your ASUS Zen AiO Z272 screen not displaying properly.

We would like to suggest the following checks:

  1. Although you mentioned that the computer operates normally via remote desktop, it is still possible that there is an issue with the internal display connection or graphics card. Please check if the internal display cable is loose or damaged, as this could prevent the screen from displaying.
  2. Sometimes, display issues can stem from display settings or graphics card drivers. You can try resetting the display settings to default via remote desktop or updating the graphics card drivers to ensure everything is functioning properly.

We kindly ask that you follow the above suggestions to check for potential issues. If the problem persists, we recommend sending the unit to an authorized service center where our engineers can diagnose and assist further.

Thanks for your reply.

As 20 year PC - Server tech specialists with our own repair lab in house - we feel we can repair this issue if we know what the affecting components are causing this issue.

While the remote desktop access is working fine - we know the Z272's LCD display is not actively working properly.  As I wrote in my initial post above ... "I unplugged the power  ... waited a few min for the capacitators to discharge and before pluggging power back in - held the power button for 45 secs or so.  Then plugged power back in - pressed the power button and the small front power LED by the SD card slot shows ON ... I get a small amount of screenlight on the bottom left edge ... and that's it.

I hope this issue is a SW driver or just a video card update ... we haven't moved this Z272 AiO unit in 2 years so I doubt that a cable or video card would be loose causing this issue.  I was actually using the AiO when this occurred.  There was a quick screen shange - liek a vertical line that flashed then the full screen came back then it went blank.  I did see the initial Asus Bios info flash on the screen for a few seconds after that while I was doing multiple attempts are setarting the unit .... BUT never the full ASUS normal logo that shows when it is actuall accessing the BIOS and screen is displaying that image.

This is a critical issue as its my main management AiO unit.

Is there a tech support # I can call to discuss with a ZEN Z272 skilled tech who can help me further diagnose or resolve this issue?

Thanks for yoru help.!  Andrew Roach - President - Drew Telecom Group

So I downloaded the latest ASUS ZEN Z272 Nvidia driver and loaded it and now the local LCD dispaly is randomly flashing on full screen for 2-3 seconds that flashing off ???  Andy recommendations ... it does seem to be video card driver or maybe another additional driver is affected also.

Hi @drewmich ,

Thank you for providing the information!

Based on your description, where the monitor flickers a few times upon startup and then goes completely dark, we recommend sending the monitor to an official service center for further assistance.

Our engineers will inspect the unit and attempt to replicate the issue to determine the root cause.

To ensure a comprehensive inspection, we suggest including the power adapter and power cable along with the monitor for servicing.

Thank you for your cooperation.
