========================================
I want to tell you that this phone, ROG 3 is having severe black levels issue. I have pitched it against OnePlus 6 whic is more than 2 years old and this phone cannot compete against that.
My questions are these,
1. Is the display panel used in this phone bad quality?
2. Can this be fixed by software updates? I don't see how cuz I already got 2 updates for fixing yet nothing happend.
3. Can I get a replacement or the display replacement under warranty If this display is faulty?
4. Is my display ok or faulty?
5. Is this display AMOLED or LCD?🤔😒
Pls watch the below files and do let me know what I can do and What Asus can or is Doing?

60hz vs 144hz
Both have different calibrations (black crush and tint began becoming prominent from 90hz and greater,60 doesn't have such issues atleast not this much noticeable)
A fair comparison would be with another high refresh rate phone with atleast 120hz
Asus is continuously tunning black crush issue and you can see more improvement in coming FOTA dont worry!
Also i would say only most of 90hz and above refresh rate devices have such issues like black crush/red tint/green tint etc
Rog is not only one you can check oneplus 8 pro/samsung note 20 ultra/samsung s20+ forums you will see number of users complaining so i request you just wait ASUS is trying really hard to get towards fix as early as possible
And also yes it would be much fair comparision if you would have compared rog 3 with any other 90hz and above refresh rate models as this crush issue occur mostly on higer refresh rate panels only
oneplus 6 is 60hz this does not justify comparisions
Thanks!😊
download firefox, open same youtube, ull see black are black. Its just google poor black crush fix.
Thanq for the reply.
I have the refresh rate at 90hz only. And I have checked at every setting
Ya I have checked it at every setting i found the same. Even though I see Rog 3 as a superior device here.
I know Asus is working on it. I jus waited for tow updates upto .70 version, yet the issue was still there.
It may be in oneplus 8 or samsung i dont want to know.
I hope atleast at full brightness the black leves are maintained. That way problem might not be there at most of the time as we use it at full brightness.
Hope this will be resolved. I want to enjoy this phone.
I will try this and the issue is on other apps also lyk netflix, amazon prime video etc.
OnePlus is replacing phones with black crush issue. And one of the mods previously said that black crush will never go away fully.
When will Asus start a replacement policy for devices facing this problem.
Suffering from same issue
Excatly, either the problem must be gone or else device must be replaced.
Don't know if this will be resolved.
So going for 144hz is a bad decision?
I think Asus can make this right. I hope.
Is going for 144hz or anything above 60hz is wrong decision if so why are these displays superior.
I want to tell you that all other colours reproduction is of great quality but, blacks are too bad. That is a serious issue coz we enjoy an Amoled for its blacks.
All OLED phones with high quality screens have black crush without exception. The only difference is how strong the effect it, hell even 2000USD+ OLED TV's have black crush.
It doesnt matter if we talk Samsung Note 20 Ultra, Pixel 4, OnePlus 8 Pro or Oppo Find x2 Pro, you will always find yourself with black crush on a certain level. Hell even on my roommates Morotolla One Zoom he has black crush, it's funny how people just hear a term like "black crush" and blow it out of proportions. It's the same when people claim that their Asus phone run hot, despite being around 60c on load which is ridicolously low compared to samsungs passing well above 90c on the SoC.
If you have an OLED phone you WILL have black crush unless you hand calibrate the screen yourself on each and every single brightness level. What Asus means with they will reduce black crush but never get 100% rid of it is basicially the same as Asus will limit black crush to the best of their abilities so that it will have as little black crush as other OLED phones.
True
I have seen black crush and burn complains in premium OLEDs too 😂
On phones sadly all high hz phones have it as of now (beyond 90hz it's more pronounced)
Wrong, it's a common misconection. It's not the high refreshrate that does the black crush, it's the brightness. Very well lit OLED screens are much much harder to calibrate than dimmer ones. Typically high refreshrate OLED's come with very high brightness levels, that's why we never heard of black crush before even tho we had OLEDs for a while now.
That's why you see 60hz OLED phones with black crush such as S9, Pixel 2 and so on. The brighter the screen is able to get the stronger the black crush will become if you don't calibrate it on each brightness level.
I will make a video on this explaining why black crush happens, why people need to chill, how to mitigate the problem for yourself and for the future what to look for as there are some devices that CAN have a hardware fault.
Um 144hz does have its advantages
Anyone who has tried anything above than 60hz won't be able to go to 60fps again as it'll feel slow and stutter-ry (I've noticed this with many)
Plus you do get the snappy touch response, high touch sampling and latency on such panels
As par as disadvantages are concerned that has to be black and tint, these two are the most reported things in high refresh rate displays (some phones like OnePlus 8pro have some other stuff like artifacts, black bar around punch hole too tho)
I think high hz displays need different calibration compared to 60hz so they need to adjust calibration accordingly
In the latest update black crush at low brightness is basically solved but there's slight tint and higher brightness doesn't have that great blacks from I what gather reading posts here
Asus is still tinkering rog 3's display let's hope they find a sweet spot :)
Wow I didn't know that
My conception was that higher hz affects black crush and tint
A video will be great tho!
