Lifespan will be only 18month?

As I saw in a earlier post, Asus phone lifespan would be only 18 month.
I paid a thousand dollars for this phone and I really hope it will get updates for over 18month. I am pretty sure this phone has suffisent hardware for a good 3-4 years of OS update. But I still have to admit, as a Zenfone 3 user, the update are much more frequent. There is still place for improvement, but you are in the good way.

ROG 1 user here. Still waiting for Android Pie :) FML
Android pie is out for ROG 1 users. You may want to download the update manually instead of waiting for a automatic download (that can take weeks before you get it)
Only iPhone have support of this time. For me 12 months is Enogh. After thar hardware is obsolete.
Now, ASUS releases only 3 types of phone :
ROG, ZenFone, ZenFone Max
So the updates should be more frequent compared to the time when ASUS had a looooot of phone variants (Zoom, Deluxe, Pro, Selfie, Selfie Pro, Ultra, Go, ...)
The "life cycle" I mean refers to the beginning of the mobile phone to the end of production. Asus chairman once said that the mobile phone life cycle will be shortened in the future.
If you are asking about the "update cycle", it will probably be about two years. If there are more than two years of updates, there will only be "security updates", and the android version will not be updated.
One problem : I have the CN model. The update they posted is for WW/RU only ....
Thank you both for your answers. Since I was a user of the old gen of Zenfone (listed by VS-KR I was kind of worried that the updates would be similar for the ROG 2 (or even the Zenfone/max). It is quite reassuring that we will get better phone support (updates).
Rog Phone is one of the future focus of ASUS mobile phones. In order to profit from the mobile phone business, the future focus of ASUS mobile phones is professional users. Inventory of mobile phones will affect profitability. After the new generation of mobile phones is launched, the original mobile phones will be discontinued. The recently launched Asus phone can already feel that the life cycle is shortening. Although the "manufacturing life cycle" of a product is shortened, it does not mean that the "cycle used by users" is shortened.
