does not save contacts on sim card

APP Name: ZenFone Max Pro(M1) (ZB602KL)

I do not know if it is the way it is but it seems it shoul sabe my contacts on the sim card. It is my first time with a zenfone. I can not find any option on my contacts that would bring that up. I press the 'three dot' button but no aditional option that would help. I apreciate any help
