Mattias_ASUSHello sir . Im getting stuck on 120HZ lock and when im not touching/ not use , and check the lockscreen its steel stay 120hz cannot turn down to 60hz .https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/241776#Comment_241776
Hello @zenfonenineuser
I am using a Zenfone 9 and testing different refresh rates and I can't see the different colors or brightness differences at 90Hz, I am on the stable Android 13 release.
It's not that my colleague is lazy, please have a little more respect towards people who just want to help.
Because of the way panels work you can get different values, that's why NO TV or monitor is like any other and it's also the reason things like ISF Calibration or even Calman certificates exist.

argaman48and here:The colors on the screen very visibly become darker about a second after going in or out of anything when using the automatic refresh rate option, it could be when I'm going between apps, opening a new page or even when pulling down the notification panel, it happens all the time.

Now I think I found the source of the issue.
Enabling the "low brightness DC dimming" option in the display setting, which is only allowed when the phone is on 60fps, solves the issue completely by simply always being darker, but then again, you must force it to be on 60 fps.
So I tried going back to the automatic refresh rate, but now I monitored the fps, and the issue became very clear.
Whenever the fps drops to 60 the DC dimming is probably enabled automatically, even when disabled manually on the settings, causing the screen to become darker whenever it switches between 60 and other refresh rates, since this feature is not supported on higher ones.

Look at the color of the keyboard and notification panel when the fps switches from 90 to 60 and vice versa, note that it is more visible than it looks on the video

Martreb2000It's an known issue caused by bad calibration and it seems it wont be fixed. The screen colors/contrast are slightly different at different refresh rates. With auto, it flickers.
In 90Hz color reproduction is bad, it gets a blueish hue.
- Model Name: zf9
- Firmware Version: 32.2040.2040.23
- Rooted or not: nope
- Frequency of Occurrence: permanent
========================================
Workaround: fix refresh rate.
Steps to replicate:
- Dark mode
- Switch display mode/colour profile to "neutral"
- Place refresh rate toggle as first quick setting in notification shade
- Decrease brightness to minimum
- Pull down notification shade
- Switch between refresh rates using the toggle and observe the gray background of the notification shade changing hue/color.
Another, slightly more way:
- Enable auto refresh rate
- Take many high dynamic range photos with whichever app
- Brightness to minimum
- Open Google photos
- Start scrolling, and observe color changes between scrolling and not scrolling
