Phone not covered

I bought the zenfone 8 in June online and it said it was the global version. It got stuck on a weird screen last night and now it's dead. I contacted the company I got it from and they said I needed to contact asus as it after 14 days but asus said its not covered and they can't do anything as its from Hong Kong and is an Asian version.(which the company I got it from are disputing) I don't really understand what all that means as it come with British plug and English on box and paperwork. Can any one tell me how it's different and if I can tell from the outside as I don't want to try and pay and get it fixed in a phone shop if they are not going to be able to fix it either.
