Hello everyone, I'm currently looking to buy the ZenFone 8 for 2024, for its performance, small size, good cameras...It's still a good device, What should I know before buying, or whether I should buy it or not, Help me in this situation, please. (Note the device is used, but in excellent condition)

I would have suggested it , but if you are planning just to use it for 1year it may be ok, otherwise don't go for it, my WiFi turns on itself and and turn off itself now, maybe the firmware, but I will not suggest it! I have reported to Asus and I will update the service I will receive...one is 2.5 years old , I changed battery once , the first year was perfect.

Hi, @hopzz

Based on the additional context you've provided, here are my thoughts on purchasing the used Asus ZenFone 8 in 2024:

Pros:

  • The ZenFone 8 is still a capable device, even though it is a few years old. The performance, cameras, and compact size are still appealing features.
  • If the device is in excellent condition and has been well-maintained, you may be able to get good value for a used model.

Considerations:

  • Software support - As we discussed earlier, Asus has had some issues with timely software updates. While the phone may have been updated to the latest version when new, the lack of ongoing support could be a concern now.
  • Battery health - Depending on the device's usage history, the battery may have degraded over time. This could impact the daily runtime and overall usability.
  • Warranty coverage - Since this is a used device, any remaining manufacturer's warranty may not transfer. Verify what, if any, warranty or return policy the seller is offering.
  • Future compatibility - While the ZenFone 8 should still be compatible with most apps and services today, its older hardware may become outdated sooner than newer models.

My recommendation would be to thoroughly inspect the used device, test all key functionalities, and inquire about the device's history and any available warranties or return policies. If the price is significantly discounted compared to a new model and the device is in excellent shape, it could still be a worthwhile purchase.
