How to set bespoke phone ringtone?

I have downloaded an old (preferred) BlackBerry phone ringtone as mp3.
How do I set it for the (Android 12) Zen8? The pathway resulting from a web search for Android 12
Settings - Sound & vibration - Phone ringtone - My sounds
is missing the final destination "My sounds" on Zen 8.
