Should the ZenFone 6 get an LTE connection from AT&T? I can only get H+.

This phone was purchased directly from Asus USA. I tried two SIM cards from AT&T, the store tech could not get LTE and the second level tech support could not help. Did I get stuck with a 3G only phone?

Some users have changed APN settings as well to resolve this issue.

I should add that I get 4G on ZF6 in California with AT&T.

I have been to 2 AT&T stores with this phone, worked with two different techs and both tried setting the APN with no success. The second tech called his second level support and they were not able to make this phone work either.
Was I sent the wrong phone? I understand that there are different versions which support different bands. As I said originally, I bought this through Asus USA's web site and I assumed they send the correct phone for this region, but I do not know how to determine if this is correct.
