Could have something to do with your data plan. Maybe a restart will fix it?

Yes.... it got fixed after I restarted the device. Now this problem doesn't seem to go away, the most important one: I face network fluctuation issue and frequent call drops. The network doesn't seem to latch to the 4g despite good signal reception. I tested this on my old iPhone 7 and the it seems to work just fine.
