I've had my ZenFone 11 since July 2024, and I was hoping one of the subsequent software updates would fix this but they haven't.
The default automatic brightness goes extremely dim a lot of the time, when relatively bright light is not directly shining on the screen/sensor. It jumps between very bright and extremely dim, with hardly any inbetween variation and it is incredibly frustrating. I get the impression this is possibly a software issue, as everything else about the phone is fine, but the transition from dim to bright has a long delay. I can face my phone towards bright light and it takes about 2-3 seconds for the phone to react and brighten the screen. The brightness is fine when it's in bright light, but anything less, the brightness drops right off and defaults to the same very dim position on the brightness slider. If this is a settings issue it seriously needs updating! You could add a minimum default brightness setting, or an option to make the phone more sensitive to brightness changes.
As it is, I currently have to manually change the brightness multiple times a day to be able to see websites and video clearly when I'm in moderately light surroundings. It's not the website or video that is the problem. If the automatic brightness transitioned to midway on the slider things would be fine, but the phone seems allergic to that position.
Also, I know I'll be asked to check so I should mention that no, eye protection mode or any other screen affecting setting or app are not on or installed. My phone case doesn't cover any part of the screen and I'm not using any screen protectors either.
Thanks in advance for any help.
