As per the asus theme app changelog, the animated themes is available for more rog devices (updated on feb 22 v 8.0.0.56)
After updating the theme app looks the same without any addition of animated themes. As fas i know R3 shipped with animated theme support, but this new theme app should atleast support r2 (according to changelog) if not original rog.
If animated themes can be enabled via ota r2 users will be pleased as the update cycle for r2 is coming to the end.
