It's already 2025 and the source code for the ROG Phone 8 series (AI2401) firmware version V35.1210.1420.118 , dated June 12, 2025 , still hasn't been released.
Let’s be honest — we’re not even sure if ASUS plans to release it at all anymore. The firmware is listed, the SHA-256 hash is there (403D4250BE9C8263EDFAA02CA3E9B2BEEBEAE15420CA4CFEB38B58D1485372A, but where’s the source code?
Under GPL compliance, users should have access to the source shortly after the binaries are made public. But almost a year later… nothing.
And while we're waiting for that, there's total silence from ASUS about any future updates. No word on whether they're skipping straight to Android 16 , or if they're just dragging their feet with this current release.
Meanwhile, users are dealing with real bugs — things that aren’t game-related or RGB-related, but actual system-level issues that affect daily use and security. Issues that could be fixed or investigated by the community if we had access to the source .
We get it — marketing loves gaming features. But real users care about stability, transparency, and long-term support. Where’s the commitment to that?
ASUS, please stop ignoring your tech-savvy users. We’re not asking for much — just the code you legally committed to releasing, and some clarity about the future of updates.
Is Android 16 coming? Or are we stuck in limbo?

The source code is only used to make apps for the ROG phone specific for this model. So its pointless to update it anyway. Because Android is open source. The API lvl you can already update that in android studio so uploading a full new source code is pointless.
