I have a ROG Phone 6 (AI2201, WW) and after one of the recent system updates, the cameras lost their functionality:
The front camera only works in third-party apps like WhatsApp.
The main camera now acts as the wide-angle camera, the wide-angle acts as the macro camera, and the macro mode cannot be launched at all.
After performing a factory reset, the cameras stopped working completely.
The stock Camera app shows the message:
“Camera is not ready. Please try again later.”
In the system logs there are EEPROM errors:
ov13b10_at24c64e_eeprom, imx766_eeprom
and a crash of the process:
vendor.qti.camera.provider@2.7-service_64,
which clearly indicates a firmware problem, not a hardware failure.
After downgrading to Android 12, the cameras sometimes work — usually only after an OTA update error or after the message “Restored basic configuration” appears.
They stop working again after a reboot.
Android 14 almost always cause the cameras to stop working completely.
It seems that newer firmware versions lack the full configuration for this specific hardware variant
(Sony IMX766 + OmniVision OV13B10 + OV02B10 + Sony IMX663).
ASUS Service classified it as a “hardware fault” and offered a paid repair — even though this problem is global, affects many users, and is clearly a firmware issue.
Honestly, it’s hard to accept that.
:mobile_phone: A premium phone loses basic functionality after an official update.
:hourglass_not_done: The warranty expires — and we get an update that breaks the cameras, followed by:
“Now pay for repair, or buy a new one.”
Is this what “premium support” means for ASUS?
Premium? More like a lottery.
I feel ignored as a customer.
ROG Phone 6 users deserve a proper firmware fix, not a paid repair for an update-induced bug.

Have the same problem, found the solution in blind restarts (when i do several restarts in a row, camera starts working again, but only for 1-2 hours, then back to bugged version). Have no other solution. Personally i use my old phone for photos only and this one for work, games, ect.
Because problem was reported long time ago, it seems that ASUS is incompetent even with their own hardware and software, trying to force people to pay for their own mistakes. I know the frustration, and trust me, they wont do a thing to help without paying them to do so. They are too greedy to confess its their fault.
Tbh, i dont even think they read those threads related to phones that are 2 years old or older. Thats what happens when corporations value greed over clients.

I'll write about this wherever possible. Let potential customers know how they'll be treated.
