ROG phone 8 unlocking capabilities

Many should know by know that Asus has been under a bit of scrutiny since they seeming closed the Unlocking servers for their phones and got rid of the unlocking tool for both the zenfone and ROG line.

This prevented users from unlocking the phone's bootloader,  and took away the ability of developers to code and maintain custom versions of Android for the phones.

Considering Asus only promises 2 years of major software updates, the possibility to develop custom versions of android added potential longevity to the devices, as users could simply load and develop ROMs based on future android versions beyond those provided by ASUS.

I would like to confirm if the unlocking tools/servers will return, or if anyone that buys an ROG phone 8 can confirm if they at least provided the Bootloader unlock option in settings.

Samsung and every other brand allows bootloader to be unlocked. That's why I’m selling this trash and buying S24 ultra.

Well, I'm not in india. But in the US Samsung permanently blocked the ability to unlock the bootloader. So every Samsung phone sold in the American market can't be unlocked

No, they removed the OEM unlocking option from the developer settings. So you can't unlock it in anyway till someone finds some unofficial way. Also they haven't even uploaded the SN of the device to their unlock servers. Otherwise project and project status wouldn't be blank in the attached screenshot.

I think you know more about this than me. Good luck with the S24 ultra, I tried it and personally I didn't like it.

The thing is I desperately need the root access on my device for some specific reason. Otherwise I've Iphone 14 pro and ipad M1 for each and everything, I’m switching back to android for this very specific reason and I didn't know about this asus trash company not providing bootloader unlock anymore. Otherwise I would've bought Samsung in the first place. It's better and cheaper that this ROG trash. But I wamt gaming phone which doesn't heat much even if I root and overclock it to the max.
