From another post but described issue exactly:
"Need help here, my ROG phone 8 bought last July 2024 suddenly stopped charging on the bottom charging port but can still charge on the side charging port with intermittent disconnection & reconnection. I tried to use different cords but still won't charge, i tried different charger (not Asus) and it charges (not hyper). I tried to use the charger on other phones and my power bank and the adapter and cord works perfectly fine. Is there anyone here experienced this? how are you able to address this issue and can you give me some guides thanks in advance"
Same issues with mine since the last software update. Have dev tools active and set usb to file transfer, fixed the issue for a week and it's back.
Open USB settings with the original charger plugged in and I can't change the options and it flickers from active to greyed out really fast.
I ordered mine in March 2024.

Hello @MrLazyCloud
Have you tried a different cable? In some cases the cables can be at fault.
But if you have tried it, could you maybe create a log for the devs to look into? This way they can look into what could be causing the issue.
I'm writing the steps down below and feel free to send me a DM with the link when you are done.
*********************
Please follow the below steps to enable the built-in log tool (Bug reporter).
1. Open “Calculator APP”
2. Enter “.19595+=”
3. Select the Log type according to the type of issue you want to capture. “General cases” will work for most issues.
4. After your selection the log tool will exit so you can duplicate the issue or wait for it to happen. Try to use the screen recorder to show your issue when possible. If you can't screen record your issue, then please take a screenshot right after the issue has occurred (as a timestamp) so we know where to look in the log.
5. Navigate back to the log tool via calculator and Tap "FINISH AND SHARE".
6. It takes several minutes for the log to generate. You can exit and do other stuff in the meantime. A silent notification will tell you once the process is done. Tap the notification and then the share button to upload the file to Google Drive and share the link with a moderator. Just make sure to change the permission first so that everyone with the link has permission to view it.
Note: When you're no longer planning on logging your device, enter “.09595+=” in the calculator and the log tool will stop as well as deleting all stored log files. Make sure to share via calculator. The files found in internal storage -> asus_log are not the correct files (they are only 1.2kb)

Hi,
I have the same problem. However, I have two original chargers. So I also have two original charging cables. I have the same problem with both.
Lower socket normal charging without hyper charge
Side socket hypercharge which constantly restarts and thus does not charge properly. It also constantly switches from 65W to 20W hypercharge and therefore does not charge correctly. I've had this problem before and actually wanted to send it in. Then there was a system update and suddenly the problem was solved. Since today the same problem again.
Hypercharge does not work like this. I am not assuming a technical defect, that is illogical in this case. It will be a software error, perhaps in the power management or in the control controller for the charging voltage of the battery.

Hello again!
I got a reply from the team and it looks from the log that there is some abnormality in the charging port itself and they advice to reach out to your closest ASUS Service Center, you can find the closest one in the link here: https://www.asus.com/support/service-center-location/

Thanks for advising, but I feel this cannot be correct as per the other response above it seems to be software, since the recent update it hasn't happened since.
