Future android update, future issue.

Google has announced a future restriction on apps outside its store. This means apps like Winlator will no longer be installable. So, will Asus finally come to its senses and allow its devices to be unlocked? The main feature that distinguishes iOS from Android is the ability to sideload apps. If this disappears, we will have to buy open devices. Only those that allow custom ROMs.

Đã qua 2 tuần từ khi zenfone 12 cập nhật nhưng đến giờ rog phone 8 vẫn không có động thái . Có lẽ asus đã bỏ qua rog phone trong bản cập nhật này . Thật đáng tiếc

There is no restrictions its only a app screening ( you can still sideload the apps you want). Winlator and all other emulator apps will still be available if the owner of the app wil certificate there app by google and custom ROMs are also effected by it.

The only Phones that won't be effected are phones without Gapps pre installed  so the CN model and maybe EU model because there is a lawsuit against it.

We know how the Apple ecosystem works and why. Google is pursuing the same goal. Winlator is just one example, but there are other apps that definitely won't get certified. For me, it was truly a game changer. Now, as a knowledgeable Android user, I think this will be very problematic. Modded apps, etc. I seriously think we will have to move to other devices with a more liberal approach to the customer.

It won't happen everywhere because it will break independent app stores.  For example, F-Droid builds from verified source repos for security.  Europe won't tolerate that kind of monopoly abuse and China doesn't even use Google.  It's just the US where the billionaires are running the circus.

US cellular bands are starting to appear in international phones so I'd buy one of those.  Asus will probably cave into Google's demands because Taiwan depends on the US for protection from China.
