As of December 11, 2024. Game genie has stopped working for me completely. I was playing genshin when I realized my air triggers stopped working, no big deal, it's not the first time that happened Soo I did the thing that usually fixed the issues which is switch to another game and go back to genshin. That's when I realized that my air triggers didn't stop working, but game genie as a whole stopped working, alright, no big deal, this isn't the first time that's happened. I rebooted my phone and wanted to go back to playing, imagine the horror in my face realizing that rebooting my phone did not bring game genie back. So I went to the forums and lo and behold, I am not alone.
Ever since the android 14 update, I realized that I couldn't reach as many frames as before, I noticed this while testing fps in clash of clans which allows 165 fps, few months ago it could easily reach max fps, but after the update? 155fps is all my phone managed. Now I'm not one to go and point fingers to make myself feel batter especially since 10 frames isn't a big deal in this case, so Ill give it the benefit of the doubt, perhaps it's because my storage is over 60%, So I clean up and get it down to a little over 50%.
Tried running clash of clans on max fps again and it still only barely pushed above 155fps. So now my interest is peaked, it didn't feel like my phone got slower, not at all. However, it does feel weaker now.
I started up genshin to try maxing out it's graphics (bare in mind, in the beginning when I first bought this phone, genshin could play at max graphics and rarely dip fps, and even then it only dipped to around 45fps) I was shocked to find out it rarely got 60fps and very commonly dipped to single digit fps when in hectic combat scenarios, this has never happened before and it's at this point that I can no longer give Asus the benefit of the doubt and can only assume the android 14 update is the culprit behind this mess.
The ROG phone was not ready for Android 14
I highly suggest Providing a software downgrade to mitigate future issues such as this game genie fiasco and continue polishing android 14.
There is no shame in caring about the consumer experience.
