AveranNot many might remember this, the same thing happened during poco F1. But OEM took quite sometime(exactly 4 months) to fix this issue. The issue was on all the poco F1 devices and ROG3 isn't even near sales value. The fix was provided via OTA. May be MI team is more accomplished in doing that. May be technicalities are unknown for ROG 3 and isn't available in public.https://www.xda-developers.com/rog-phone-3-zenfone-7-issues-hd-playback-netflix/
Judging by this article all the affected devices will have to be taken to the service centre to get it back to L1 imo

MVIt has happened with many phones in the past some got it sorted through an ota while some others had to get their phones to service centres to get the DRM keys flashed again like in the case of OnePlus 5/t (all caused due to different bugs probably)https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/144433#Comment_144433

AveranI already had a read on this article when it was published. But it would be silly to say this when device DRM got downgraded via OTA. Don't you think if bug was there with silicon the issue would have been there since launch on the affected devices and not after OTA. I know I am d-bagging ASUS here but that's what it is.https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/144465#Comment_144465

Recently oneplus 8pro got an ota to fix the same l3 issue I guess that was something that could be solved with an ota

so from the articles I have been able to deduce a couple of stuff
~ this was caused due to a bug on Qualcomm's side
~ seemingly an ota can't fix it and you'll have to get your devices to a service centre to get the DRM keys flashed again
