Brand New ROG 3 came with a battery with no charge

I just got my brand new ROG 3 strix edition and I am a bit concerned. First thing I noticed is that it had no protective film on the screen and the battery was totally dead so much so that it would not fire up until I had it on its charger for 5 minutes or so. Is this normal. I have had tons of New phones before and this is the first one that came like this. I am wondering if this particular phone has been sold to someone else and returned??????????

Yes Kogan it was. I have downloaded the zip file but I haven't been able to work out how to copy and paste it to the root directory yet but I rufuse to let technology best me so I will work it out come hell or high water

What firmware are you on right now?
I'm assuming you want to update to .98?
Here's the download link :
UL-ASUS_I003_1-ASUS-17.0823.2009.98-1.1.74-user.zip | by DeadlyIndian for ROG Phone 3(Direct ota to go from .78 to .98)
Steps:
1. Copy file to internal storage (not in any subfolder)
2. Reboot your phone
3. An update notification prompt will be displayed

PS Asus is very slow with their OTA updates I do remember that much

Not really they've improved very much in the past 1 year including for rog phones
As of now Rog 3 has been getting monthly updates
And as an avg expect bimonthly updates
My 2.3yrs+ Zenfone 5z is on September patch too right now by the way 🙂

I tried your method and it seems to work all the way to the notification but when I tap it it says update failed. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. The version I'm on at the moment is 32 not 78 could that be the problem,do I need to go through all the updates until I'm up to speed do you think?

Well that's good news and yes come to think of it so is my 5z . I don't know what I'm doing wrong with the file but I will work it out. I refuse to let it get the best of me

The version is actually 17.0823.2007.32 not even 2009 ???? Go figure??? I may just have to wait until they push the updates through, but I will keep trying
