My Z790-E is in the mail but meanwhile I thought I'd ask: what is it that puts out a loud tone when you overheat your cpu. (yes, I know all about cooling and sufficiency and have more than sufficient parts on the way). But a week ago I was benching and it overheated and put out a tone. Esc stops it and any possible damage. Today I ran one and again that same tone sounded and again I pressed Esc. I will wait for parts to arrive before doing further testing.
I am a geek so don't want "suggestions. Been around computers since '62(IBM). But, unless it is hyper miniaturized, i9-13900K's don't come with loudspeakers. Nor do mobos (they used to come with a little one for POST codes but now they are too cheap to do that so I added my own), but it's not from that. It's not coming into my realtek audio system to be played through my external base speakers. Nope.
Baffled!!! Poltergists??? Where is it coming from VLS??? or whatever?
remember this is a cheap low end mobo so it doesn't matter.

Hello @Kris234
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Could you let us know which benchmarking software you used with the PRIME Z790-V WIFI and i9-13900K, as well as the CPU temperature at the time the issue occurred?
To assist us in providing a more accurate response, could you kindly refer to the template below to help us better understand your situation?
- the current BIOS version and the images of BIOS main page and all manually adjusting items
- the brand, model and installation slots or ports of the GPU, RAM (part number well), SSD/HDD, and PSU
- are there any extensions or adapters used to connect any devices, such as GPU or SSD?
- the OS version and OS build
- the circumstances and frequency of the problem
- provide a detailed video recording of the issue, including the hardware installation on the motherboard and the scenario before and after the warning sound is triggered.
Thank you.
