Is it possible to use a Asus TB3 card with a Tuf Gaming Z790-Plus?

Building this machine shortly...currently have the TB4 card but wondering if using a Asus TB3 card could work with this MB. Rather than trying to source down the NVM31 downgrade tool. If so...any specific Asus card recommendations?

I'm seeing that it might provided it's the TB3 TR (Titan Ridge?) version as it has the same 14pin cable that the MB has on it's header.

May I ask if you are inquiring about the ThunderboltEX 3 or the ThunderboltEX 3-TR?
For information regarding the compatibility between Thunderbolt cards and motherboards, we recommend referring to [ASUS Thunderbolt card] Which model of ASUS motherboard supports ASUS Thunderbolt card? According to this link, the Intel Z790 chipset is compatible with the ThunderboltEX.

I'm inquiring only about the ThunderboltEX 3-TR card working on the Z790 board as it is the only one with the compatible 14pin molex connector that matches the TB4 header on the MB. My understanding is the TB4 header  is backwards compatible with that TB3 - TITAN RIDGE card and that should do away with the compatibility issues with the older Universal Audio TB2 audio products.

Seems a better approach than trying to mess with the BIOS?
