Hi,
By comparing list of CPU compatible with Windowse 11 provided by Microsoft https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/design/minimum/supported/windows-11-24h2-supporte... and the one for the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard CPU compatibility https://www.asus.com/us/supportonly/z170%20pro%20gaming/helpdesk_cpu/, I have no common CPU.
I already bought a TPM chip to be able to switch to W11 but now I'm struggling with the CPU compatibility.
Currently I'm with Intel® Core™ i5-6600 Processor.
Does it mean that the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming cannot have W11?
Kind regards,

Hey everyone, I recently upgraded my system to Windows 11 on my Asus Z170 Pro Gaming motherboard, but I’m facing some performance issues:
:cross_mark:High CPU usage during gaming
:cross_mark:Frequent FPS drops in Nulls Brawl Son Sü
:cross_mark:Random system freezes while multitasking
I've updated my BIOS, drivers, and even tried different power settings, but the issue persists. Could this be a CPU compatibility issue with Windows 11, or is there a specific setting I need to tweak? Would appreciate any suggestions!

What does the Windows 11 compatibility troubleshooter tell you about being able to upgrade? Does it fail on the CPU?
If it fails (which it might), there is a workaround to install 11 using a couple of different methods, including just running the setup from the command prompt with the /product server flag set. This also avoids the TPM requirement. I've successfully upgraded Windows 10 on a 5,1 Mac Pro (2010 vintage) with this method to 11, and it runs perfectly fine.

W11 installation tells me that the CPU is not supported.
The problem of methods like /product server flag is that if I launch the W11 installation from a Flash memory using Bios Flash memory boot, it will be KO, it is not a very sexy solution...

Hello @madjo1983
Sorry for any inconvenience caused by the delayed response.
According to ASUS motherboards Ready for Windows 11 list, the Z170 PRO GAMING model is currently classified under “Tested for compatibility, but actual upgrade results may vary depending on the OS and third-party driver support.” This means that while it may operate under Windows 11 in certain environments, official drivers for Windows 11 are not provided on the support site.
Given this, the behavior you described may be related to driver compatibility issues or a lack of optimized support.
We recommend checking whether drivers designed for Windows 10 are functioning stably under Windows 11. Additionally, please monitor background processes to identify if any specific applications are consuming significant system resources, and consider adjusting your performance settings accordingly.
If the issue persists, you may also consider searching for or evaluating third-party driver solutions that could enhance stability on Windows 11.
Thank you.
