[Wireless Router] Troubleshooting - Intel Wireless Adapter Issues with Old Driver Versions When Connecting to an ASUS Router

When a computer with an Intel wireless adapter connects to an ASUS router, the wireless adapter may have compatibility issue with an old driver version. In Device Manager, the adapter might disappear or show a yellow exclamation mark.

To address this issue, please refer to the instructions below.

 

1. Reset network
Click [Start menu], select [Settings] > [Network & Internet] > [Advanced network settings] > [Network reset]. On the [Network reset] screen, select [Reset now] > [Yes]. 

Your PC will be restarted after the reset is completed.

 

2. Restart Your Computer
Restart your computer to ensure all changes.

 

3. Connect to Any Network Other Than the ASUS Router
After rebooting, try connecting to another network (such as a mobile hotspot or ethernet network).

 

4. Download the Intel Wireless Adapter Driver
Go to the official Intel website and download the latest version of the Intel wireless adapter driver.
Intel® Wireless Wi-Fi Drivers for Windows® 10 and Windows 11*

 

5. Update the Intel Wireless Adapter Driver
Install the downloaded driver and follow the instructions to complete the installation process.

 

6. Reconnect to the ASUS Router
After the driver update and another reboot, attempt to reconnect to the ASUS router.

 

Following these steps should resolve the Intel wireless adapter issues when connecting to an ASUS router.
