Hello Asus Team,
Is it possible to include a "Motion Lapse" like feature in this phone. As this Phone have a rotating camera module, it will be great if you can provide. That will be great photography experience.

Thanks

  • Apologies for the late reply. The ZenFone 6 does have a Time lapse feature. It allows you to capture still images for automatic time lapse playback.

From the Camera app's home screen, swipe to the right to Time Lapse. The phone will then use the shutter to take a Time lapse video after you have selected the desired interval.

Sir but there's a difference between time lapse and motion lapse. Motion lapse also has two different frames set which it covers while doing a time lapse, something very possible courtesy flip camera
  • Hi
Thanks for the suggestion! This feature sounds simple to implement because of the moving camera module - however there are some detailed technical hurdles that are not as obvious - but very real - in why this feature is difficult to do.

While our Flip Camera rotates 180 degrees in 90 steps - 2 degrees per step - which gives a smooth motion to our "eyes" , for a motion time lapse feature, this granularity is actually not enough to produce a smooth panning result - since you're also having a lot of motion in place over time.

As such, while it is indeed a cool idea - it exceeds the design limitations of the Flip Camera in ZenFone 6.

Thanks for such a detailed explanation. The camera is great as is anyway with just a few tweaks required
  • Suggestions for features are always welcome - however many times there are technical implications that prevent us from realizing them. Other times (and other feature requests) there may be unforseen side-effects which may not be obvious at first but of which we still need to relate to.
