ROG Phone 5 Tencent Edition with Global/International ROM

hello, i want to buy ROG phone 5 from my local online marketplace, there's seller who sell at quite attractive price there and he says its tencent edition with international / global ROM. Any thought on this from mods ? @Gustav_ASUS @Anders_ASUS should i take precaution as ROG phone 3/2 or is this safe on ROG Phone 5 ? thanks. (The sellers said FOTA is safe this time with rog phone 5)

Take caution, same as before. ASUS does not officially sell any Tencent-branded ROG Phone 5's with so-called "international ROM" or "global firmware". It's not a supported configuration.

i bought the same version, i was not able to unlock the bootloader.
im trying to unlock inorder to root, but no luck yet
Don't buy it,it's a scam,pay the full price from an official reseller,and btw I have written a whole post on this topic,go ahead and check it out
I got stung with the ROG 3 ten cent version,sold it within a few weeks and lost $100 or so . Like greekleader said don't take the risk
That's because whoever sold you the phone unlocked the bootloader and flashed it with the WW firmware.
Therefore, you might find your bootloader is already unlocked.
May I know what's the purpose of unlock bootloader?
And will i be able to get updates if using tencent version with a global rom flashed?

With regards to updates, I am not too sure if you still get OTA updates, but assume you wont as unlocking bootloader would void your warranty anyway (even though it isnt your fault). You can manually flash update files though.
To be honest, I would take your device back to the seller.
Is there a guide for ROG on manually updates? Or where to download the file?
First time use ROG,used to use Nubia Red Magic from 3,5G to 5S, even with china set flashed global rom still get updates
It's ok,just did the update manually, downloaded file restart and phone detect it.
Updated from WW-18.0810 to WW-18.0830 , finally got the motion control feature
How do i check if it is already unlocked?
I did forget to mention that whoever unlocked it first, can re-lock again. There is a command in adb which allows you to unlock it. I would go to XDA forums to find out more information about this.

I would genuinely recommending take your device baack to the selller and ensure you dont have the Tencent device with WW/Global firmware.
I don't think the sellers who reflash tencent models offer any honourable warranty though

Obviously not, they want to make quick bucks. Offering any type of warranty would hurt their business.
I bought Asus ROG 5 Tencent version with WW rom, I do have 1 year warranty when I registered my device and checked from my Asus app.
Unable to download unlock device app and even if I install by downloading using third-party, it doesn't unlock
The ASUS Unlock Tool can only be used once and in your case unfortunately, it was done by whoever flashed the device for you to WW rom.

Unfortunately the developer options on my phone doesn't have OEM unlocking option as well.
Which makes that fastboot option impossible also
