  • Is there any fix for auto focus issue

  • Hi, we'd request you follow the below steps:

    1. Check your phone for latest software version.

    2. Go to Camera settings & try changing focus mode

    3. Clear cache & storage of Camera App after backing up & disable/re-enable camera App

    4. Try the same under safe mode:

Hold the power button for 5 seconds => When the screen flashes with option => Press & hold power option => You will get an option to restart in safe mode

    5. If still you face the issue factory reset your phone after taking a full backup

@Victor0_ASUS So many users including me are facing this issue. No one has confirmed yet that the above solution you provided worked. This issue cropped in after the last (.70) update. Please work with a few impacted users and try to resolve this issue.

@Victor0_ASUS please check on it, we been facing this for a long time.

  • Hi all,

Even after given steps problem does not get solved than take your device to nearest service centre for further checkups as it may be hardware issue that is OIS or autofocus motor inside camera module may have been faulty which may be root cause for autofocus problem unfortunately this issue will be solved only by service centre

Don't get me wrong but you're telling us that we need to pay for what we haven't done? I mean if it's 5 to 10 people that's fine, but there are so many people facing this issues some don't even have a clue to use zentalk to discuss this issue. Please give us some information about the service charges and if so why pay for the things which we didn't do it?

  • As per my experience with asus i got same issue with my zenfone 3 a year ago and i can only say that if ur problem is not CID (customer induced damage) than they may replace your module for free as your device should not be damaged anywhere and yes remember to take pictures of your device before taking your device to service centre that would be helpful for you to check ur device when u go for pickup if it is same as it was

    Thankyou😊

Thank you for the information! Much appreciated 🙏

But if the device is out of warranty they we may have to pay for it. Still I am not convinced how all of a sudden so many users are facing this issue after the .70 update

  • I was out of warrenty and they fixed it for free as it is not damaged by customer and a hardware failure u can read warrenty covering instructions on RMA receipt u ll see that

  • AlwynAlwyn Level 2

Wouldn't it be easier if we come to know the actual reason? Like the focus thing issue is due to the 0.70 update and hence it has caused hardware issue blah blah blah..? Like if we get the details for it I'm sure people will understand and try not to ask this again and again. I have seen so many post about it. If we get confirmation on the hardware issue is due to the 0.70 update then people will be aware and they'll try giving their phones for repair

  • I must say you that software or update doesnt cause hardware issues there may be something triggered inside motherboard or camera module which is real cause for any failure also i want to tell u that after updating software and suddenly seeing issue is nothing than a coincidence

N yes i can see that there are lots of users who are facing similar issues but i want to tell you that there are various diffrent batches of devices produced at diffrent levels so may be some batches are getting issue at a same time

Yes, Ideally software update doesnt cause hardware issues. But here in this case we are not sure if this is a hardware issue or some other software issue causing the focus failure.Unless there is a communication from Asus, service centers will defenitely charge us
