Everytime i try to take a video or slow motion or motion tracking, its always say" error video recording failed ". Im using asus rog phone ii with the latest version of anroid 9.
Please try to clear the cache and data of the Asus camera app.
i have the same issue... i tried resetting the app preference as well as the cache and data but still fails.
Is this issue on both rear and front camera?
If only the rear cameras; is it the main or the ultra-wide? Or Both?
Also, have you done any modifications to your ROG Phone II? I am assuming these are the Tecent-version from China?
yes it is.. tencent version with ww firmware 12gb ram/512 rom... the box was sealed when it came so i doubt if there were modifications made. both cameras failed to record video, other camera mode works fine except the video recording. I'm not eager to do factory reset, maybe it will be fixed after the new update arrive for my serial number... still waiting for it to be pushed. the manual update also fails tried saving the new fw in the root directory but it says update failed..
Are you able to post your current firmware number and model name of the device?
We will pass it back to our RD.
I have the same problem!!
Model: ASUS_I001DB, ZS660KL-1A004CN
Do you also have Tencent Chinese version? And if so, which configuration? Are you also able to pass us your modelname + firmware number (just like above)?
I've sent PMs to you who have been affected by this, asking for more info. You may reply through PM as to not put that information here openly.
Thanks for the help!
I tried clear cache and every thing but it still not work
We've reached out to our teams internally and have this statement;
ASUS does not officially sell any Tencent-branded ROG Phone II with so called "International ROM" or "Global firmware".
We cannot guarantee the functionality of this combination , if you are facing any type of issues - please turn to your reseller where you bought this device - as this is is not a combination we are selling.
It is very likely that the "WW ROM" being installed on these Tencent-branded Chinese versions is the culprit causing issues - but this is very much unsupported from Asus side - and not a combination that we officially sell anywhere..
You may try to flash back the CN firmware and see if that restores functionality to the camera - but of course that brings about its own set of issues. Our recommendation is that you bring this issue back to the resellers who sold you this type of combination.
Where can i buy the global version?
Depending on where you are located , there are official pre-orders being taken now throughout europe , for example through our European e-shop.
More regions to follow as well.
found a work around from other forums... clearing google cache and storage restored the video recording functionality. indeed the ww fw was forced to be installed in tencent variant. might rollback to cn fw to avoid any issues.
Ah, excellent you found a way to fix this!
@joseph @ravinrith23 You may also try this and see if it alleviates your problem!
Thank you it work now
Nice post. Worked for me too. 👍
this is permanent unless you activate the "ok google" assistant... if you activate it, the video recording will fail again.
