Zenfone 8 - like new .. but what todo since no more security patches?(Ex: selling is not an option)

Hi,

As the title suggests, I have a Zenfone 8, and it's working great. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones who hasn’t faced any issues with updates, usage, or battery life. I did experience some battery draining before, but after uninstalling a few apps, everything is running smoothly now.

I’d love to use it the same way I use my Zenfone 10, but the lack of updates makes me wonder what options I have. The bootloader would have been a great solution, but it's no longer available.

Using it exclusively for gaming makes me feel like it's less than just a phone. And as for selling it—why would I, when it’s still a powerful and perfectly functional device?

How can I make it live a bit more without being worried about the security...

If anyone has ideas on how to refresh its usage, I’d love to hear them!

At least ASUS could have like Apple a way to interchange or similar old for new..(any moderator to ask the uppers for this may be?)

Hello @abarkasz, I am also one of the few lucky users of Asus Zenfone 8. Maybe for your case, the only way is to install custom OS like Lineage OS. But it is not so straight forward for non-tech people, I did once on my old Sony Xperia Z3 Compact but I don't plan to do it on my Asus Zenfone 8 since it is my daily driver and I don't want to risk it. Actually recently I feel like my Zenfone 8 battery has been draining faster, I even changed the battery and also reset to factory setting once. Still there is no improvement, may I know your current latest OS Version?

Mine is: 33.0210.0210.332
With Last Google Play System Update: 1st Oct 2022
Are these the same with yours?

Hey @YouHaku here I left you the pictures of them. Mind that I stopped almost all apps for autostart too and I disable location just for now but even enable it works fine. And I always cap the battery charge to 80% and used the original charger.

Thank you very much, seems like my Google Play System Update is outdated after resetting to factory settings. When I tried to update it, it is said to be up to date.

I recall have some issues about, you could try to clear cache/data from google play app(check systems too), that did the trick even in my Zenfone 10 time to time.
