Will the Zenfone 8 receive any more security updates? The last one was a year ago. It's totally irresponsible to leave customers vulnerable for that long, and with no notice.
This question was previously asked in a now-locked thread, and no one from Asus replied.
I've never had a product from any manufacturer that stopped receiving security updates so early in its lifespan. Sony phones, iPhones, even Asus motherboards receive support for far longer. And we're not even asking for new Android versions, just the security updates that Android devs issue every month.
Could Asus please push those security updates for this device? Or, failing that, could they publish instructions on how to unlock the bootloader, so we can flash a version of Android that's still supported?

Didn't that phone had like only 2 years of updates and was released for like 3 years ago?

Important to make a distinction here between Android updates (which take a lot of work to really for each device, and which are often capped, as you describe) and security updates, which many manufacturers will continue to issue, since those are often a matter of just passing along the updates that come from upstream.
