3.5mm Adapter Incompatible

Are all USB C to 3.5 mm adapters incompatible with the Flip 8? I bought a generic one online and I get an "Analog audio accessory detected - The attached device is not compatible with this phone." error.
Also, would the ASUS AI Noise-Canceling Mic Adapter compatible as well? Although, I really don't need any noise canceling as only want to use my wired earphones at home (and go wireless outdoors).
I would appreciate it if you have product recommendations.

@stolinger There should be a slew of third party adapters that work with the Zenfone 8 Flip, but some might have compatability issues - as you've learned the hard way.

Has anyone found cheaper equivalents of Asus adapters that work? Has anyone checked the UCB-C - minijack adapter from Apple for example?
