ronald1985actually, i've tried all of these today.https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/127856#Comment_127856

2.4gz will cover further distance than 5gz.
* What happens if you go near to the hotspot?
* You can take off the phone cover (if you have one);
* Restarted your phone?
* Toggle air plane mode
* Use ROG as the hotspot and see if the other pickups up the 5ghz signal.
* Finally, reset network settings and try it then;

jasonwchI am using 5gz signal router and I am on the 2nd floor from the router with signal strenth of 66dbm as oppose to same room.https://zentalk.asus.com/en/discussion/comment/128029#Comment_128029
actually, i've tried all of these today.
The signal strength is fine when near the router/hotspot. but when walking away it will degrade quickyly the dropped. I've done the comparison with another android phone(oneplus 6). Walk and bring both phone to check the connectivity
