I have a camera problem, I can't take selfies, there's no portrait section, and I can't make videos

Same problem here but it will resolv by itself may be an other appli like facebook which use constantly the camera and not release it for an other applications. 

In fact when i have this problem i can t use the flash as pocket light too. For resolve it i open facebook or whatsapp and try to take a pics with front and rear camera and it release the front camera and video in the photo application. After when i use this last application i change the flash setting and it release that i could use use as pocket light...  A simple workaround that i use for a month .  Since 4 days no other problem apparently so may be it s due to an application that received a bad update and a new one which correcting this problem.

Hello @wrya 

I'm sorry you are experiencing issues, you can try doing a SMMI test to see if the camera modules are working as intended, you can do this by opening the calculator app and pressing ".12345+=" and choose single test, from there you can test the different camera modules.
If you experience issues with it or if you can't really see the modules then please reach out to your closest ASUS Service Center.

I have try the SMMI test as you tell (i'm on the last firmware 35.1210.1420.78). My camera work well in facebook, whatsapp but have problems with the standard photo app preinstalled by asus.

In the test SMMI when I test the front camera it open the rear one. when I test rear camera 1 it open the front camera., when i test the rear camera 2 it open the one on the right of the light and when i open the rear camera 3 it came back to the menu of the smmi test. 

I think there is a big bug about the camera and the photo app (no problem when i use facebook or other application) I notice that since to firmware (the last of android 14 and this one ) downloaded from the asus support website. We are some to releave this bug  so may be asus have to search in their code to find the bug... i don't think that's a hardware bug otherwise i couldn't use camera with another application.

Facebook work, whatsapp work, camera HD for android (from mobile_v5 dev on google play store) work. but not the app install by defaut 

other point i have seen that general the bug appear when the phone try to unlock by face recognition. the orignal app work after a force stop  and a cache deletion and the workaround I tell in my last reply

last point in video mode if i m in FHD and pass to 4K it give the error (i'm in french) "l'appareil photo est utilisé par une autre application, veuillez fermer cette application puis ressayer" (the camera is use by an other application, close this application and retry)

Hi all, 

without any change (no new firmware i m on 35.1210.1420.78 like the other time), all rework perfectly since my last post. I remake a test of camera all work perfectly contrary the other time, the front camera test work on the front one and not the rear one like the other time, and the tree rear camera test open one the tree rear camera.

I think that i receive an update by google play store but which one? an asus one or a google one? I think a google update I see nothing about an asus application which had been update
