The Tencent version build is pretty much the same as the Global version, with the big difference being the support not existing outside of China and not having all the required bands for support on different networks, but there are no special build differences, but what is correct is that a small opening can indeed compromise the integrity of the phone and will make it MUCH easier to get dust and moisture inside, which can eventually make some features perform worse.
