I have brought device August 12 ,2020 through flipkart first sale at 6auhust. I was very happy until i open netflix ,it has vert bad black crush issue even at full brightness ,in 50pecent brightness colour washed out heavy black crush issue is this hardware or software issue??anyway im just gonna refund ....but i asked some of YouTubers they have none issue ,but for fellow customers only have this😓. I decided to live with this but some of units have no issue why i wanna live with this issue for years so i try to get refund and but 12gb varient.
In YouTube crush issue is little low when compared to netflix and amazon prime ,rather than that this dev is beast 😍
I have noticed heat in aero active coller side(40°to43°) always while playing pupg at 90hz,balanced,extream . although I'm staying in AC room 22°c all time!

This is really a good question.
Are all rog 3 phones are facing the black crush issue?
If yes... Then it could be software issue.
If no... Then it's hardware issue.

If it is a Hardware issue ASUS needs to step up and provide either replacements or refunds for the faulty phones it sold. I mean its not a cheap phone with a price tag like this a consumer believes he will get a premium product and since we all got a faulty product we can at worse some take legal action against ASUS if needed.

I firmly believe that black crush is a hardware issue. Also the way Asus has optimised it in .58 update seems to be just adjusting brightness or saturation strength to a higher level like the Screen Balance app, which in turn is destroying black colour depth and dissolves the purpose of Amoled display.
There may be a possibility of black crush on higher refresh rate as said by many but the issue we have is on lower brightness and lower refresh rate.
I am very skeptical about getting this issue resolved.

Wait for the next update, or if the issue is not resolved, you will have the right to sue ASUS legally
