Can Primary and Secondary iMesh routers be identical Models of same Make?

Thank you for your valuable support in advance!
Currently, I have a single Asus RT-AC68U AC1900 iMesh primary router installed for wifi / internet purposes.
Kindly confirm or deny the following question.
Can I add a secondary router (same make and model as primary) OR should I opt for an ASUS router with LESS features than RT-AC68U AC1900. I just know that the primary router's features should be higher than those of the secondary router, but can features be Equal, hence my question?  THANK YOU for your time and effort, LuluS
