RT-BE92U only Core 1 is visible

I just got this router today, and I’ve been working through the setup process, including the firmware update. This is the second Asus router I’ve owned, and something caught my attention. After some time configuring the router, all the CPU cores disappeared except for one.

I tried restarting and resetting it, but it's like they’re gone. Any ideas?

That's interesting because I'm on 37506 with all four cores working.  And, yes that's all I did.  Turned the router off, unplugged power, turned the power switch on and left it for 2 or 3 minutes then turned power switch back off, connected power and powered up the router.

I think there might be something else running in the background, otherwise, this bug would be more widely known.

In my case, I managed to get all four cores working with a reset, but it was quite complicated. Unfortunately, the bug returned almost immediately after the next restart. I'm not sure what other factors might be affecting it

I'm curious how common this bug is.

@Manuel_p  Sadly, I had the same experience.  While a power reset revived all four cores a subsequent reboot killed them again. I'd like to know how common this is also.  I loaded a beta firmware which gave me back all cores and they survived a subsequent reboot.  So, for now, all cores are active.

Here's the thing for me.  This router has been the most problematic router I have owned and after 30 years in IT I've owned a boat load of them.  It seems we're squashing one bug only to discover another.  It makes me wonder if there's not an underlying hardware problem with this router.  I totally get that no amount of testing can put out a 100% solid piece of hardware but the amount of problems this router seems to have shouldn't be.  I'm talking to Best Buy and trying to negotiate a return for another router, probably a Netgear.  I. know the return window has closed but I am 3000 miles away and couldn't return the router promptly.

@cowhow where did you manage to get a beta firmware?
I have did the same thing you have explained for the cores but mine is so much worse. Now it doesn't want to connect to the internet 🙂

I am on 506. Yesterday the router updated itself to 523 but it broke my interface and had to restore default settings. I also contacted Asus to let them know about this and also the archive from their website was damaged. Meanwhile I've downgraded back.

Sorry, it's 522 and was sent to me by Asus.  You might contact their support and request it or there may be a newer build by now.  Contacting them is always a phone call.  Since this router came from Best Buy if I try to open a chat I'm redirected to contact the Geek Squad.
