Having weird camera issues/crashes... any fix?

I just tried taking some pictures and the camera view started getting inverted and in a blue tone.


The phone was not moved between the pictures and the picture was not edited. This was happening with both, the default camera app and OpenCamera (why can we not use gamegenie to assign airtriggers to default camera actions, again?). Eventually the camera hanged and the phone rebooted. What's going on?
I updated the software recently, not sure if I used the camera until now after updating.
Edit: Forgot to mention that this happened first time after launching OpenCamera via squeeze gesture while the phone was locked, and it behaved... weirdly, not sure how it happened (I jumped up from a sofa to take the picture and got "flashbanged", so I'm not 100% sure what exactly happened and how 😅). I was unable to zoom out for some reason.
Edit: I am hearing some sort of clicking while the camera is active. I made sure that it isn't the horizon signal.

and it hasn't even been out for three months, so the failure rate is likely high?...

this is just sad. I actually like this phone overall, and I really dig the audio - this is the first phone I've ever heard that has something one could dare to call bass. Besides some small quirks, like

• the notification LED not being customizable in OS
  • and doing some weird things with the colors with Light manager 2
• the volume steps being too coarse and
• not having 180 degree rotation,

I do like it...

the fingerprint reader is definitely acting up after the last update. Keeps saying that "the finger moved too quickly", despite me holding it down on the same spot with full coverage. Maybe it's connected to the same issue...

I really want something that has a 3.5mm jack and isn't a samsung or huawei... I've heard that the sonys get RMA'd a lot due to overheating.

...and to think that rooting to change the volume steps and add a mod for 180 degree rotation would get every step of RMA/support reeeeeing about how it's my fault for rooting the phone...

The audio is a significant downgrade vs the Rog5/rog3. If you like the bass on the Rog6, then the Rog3 would make you ask yourself if you're being pranked.
Overheating issue of the sony has been resolved.

Welp, guess I will have a case study about how frequent such failures are - I can only get my money back after 2 more failures... guess we'll see if the next one will have the same problem.

I had this same issue. But mine was worse. The back camera wouldn't work at all. Front camera worked. But if I switched to back camera, there was loud "click" sounds, almost as if there was a shutter opening &, closing. Then it would say "camera app not loading please try again later". I cleared data cache etc, did factory reset/updated downgraded software, still same issue. I'm glad I ihad this issue as I wanted to return the phone anyway as it didn't meet my expectations. If I was you I would have the phone sent off for a refund or a repair. Try to get a refund as Asus repairs are dodgy

I quess only service left for this...

I have exactly same isssue!!! Clicking sounds camera doesnt works at all only black screen, also fingerprint doesnt work. What a garbage... I was using iphones for past 12 years (11 models) never had an issue!

I quess only service left for this...

yep, the fingerprint reader for me now works about 10% of the time. And I was actually impressed with how reliable it was...

Any chance we get some acknowledgement from ASUS regarding this?

The reason for that is because the fingerprint reader is super cheap. Unlike the Rog3 which had a large but still mediocre fingerprint sensor, the Rog6 has a tiny reader that is then magnified to a bigger area, this decreases its performance and reliability drasticly, I assume ASUS had to patch it to make it more "accurate", hence the bad performance now. I suggest re registering your fingerprints for now.
