  • try turning off 5g, sometimes my data refused to connect if ive got 5g turned on

  • Tried it no effect.

  • @Snaloe Try this to start with:

    Settings -> System -> Reset options -> Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth -> Reset settings and reboot your phone.

    If that has no effect you can do some light troubleshooting in SMMI test for me:

    Open the calculator app -> Press .12345+= which will open SMMI test -> Single test -> Do the modem, SIM card and SIM signal tests.

    Mention me in this thread with your results!

  • Try resetting apn settings

    @Gustav_ASUS

    I have reset a number of times including factory reset no effect.

    Modem Test = Pass

    SimCard 1 Test = Pass (where my sim is)

    SimCard 2 Test = Fail (but it has no sim in it)

    SimSignal Test = Fail

    This is what it says: (bare in mind only sim 1 tray has a sim at the moment).

    ---------

    SIM 1

    Network: ASDA Mobile

    Cellular Network status: Disconnected

    HSPA Signal Strength(asu): 32

    HSPA Signal Strength(dBm) -88

    SIM2 Signal: NA

    ---------

  • @Snaloe Have you been in contact with your carrier and explained your issue to them as well?

    @Gustav_ASUS

    No but I don't see what the problem could be.

    When I put the ASDA Mobile sim into my old Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Mobile Internet works fine.

    I updated to the 17.0823.2009.99 update and my mobile internet stopped working.

    I test updated my mum's phone (exact same ROG Phone 3 as mine) Tested it before upgrading to the 17.0823.2009.99 update and mobile internet was working perfectly. Upon updating to the 17.0823.2009.99 update the phones mobile internet stopped working totally.

    Edit to add, before updating my mums phone when her internet was still working. I swapped her simcard into my phone and in my phone it did not make the internet work. But when I put it into her phone the internet worked fime. It was at this point I did the test update on her ROG Phone 3 to 17.0823.2009.99 that I have detailed above.

  • @Snaloe A new update was released today. Check if you have received version 2012.122 and download it if you do.

  • @Gustav_ASUS

    Yes I have already updated, I did it before posting as is noted by the version in OP. Far as I can see the only hope is to wait and hope a new update fixes the problem. But it dose not help they do not seem to see the problem.

    Is it just the Internet not working? Are you able to make calls?

    Sometimes weird things like toggling airplane mode seems to work, do you want to give this a shot?

    The next thing you can try is: Settings - System - Reset options - Reset Wi-Fi, Mobile & Bluetooth

  • Calls work, text messages work, as stated above Reset has be done about 5 times now with trying reboot after and no reboot after. No effect. Since the update mobile internet is not working. 100% the update broke the mobile internet.

    Yep, you have been asked many times, sorry about that.

    Definately not playing down this is a firmware issue. One thing I am confused though is that you're seeing: "Cellular Network status: Disconnected", but yet you're able to make calls and send messages.

    On ROG 2, there's a setting at: Setting - System - About Phone - Status - SIM Status

    Can you post a screenshot of this page (if you have it or something similar will do)?

    Not everyone is having this problem which makes it weird - so it will be good to know what is wrong and at the same time provide a workaround where possible while a new firmware update is being produced where applicable.

    @ronald1985

    Network = EE (ee provides the service to Asda Mobile this is correct)

    Phonenumber = (not needed but its there)

    Moblie Network State = Disconnected

    Service State = Voice: In service / Data: In service

    Signal Strength = -87 dBm 33asu

    Mobile Voice Network Type = UMTS

    Mobile Data Network Type = HSPA

    Roaming = Not Roaming

    -----

    That is everything the sim status says.

    This may entirely be unrelated, the only way I can get the same info as you is when:

    Data Saver is on ( where you see disconnected)

    Ensure you do not have Dual 4G Sim Enabled;

    Go to Settings - Network & Internet - Mobile Network - Preferred Network Type, toggle these so it goes to 4G. UMTS/HSPA seem to be 3G. Once you have toggled this, check back to see if it says 4G.

    Also, ensure you have the latest updates from Play Store, especially Carrier Services.

    If these do not do anything, I will continue to think of others while you are waiting for others to respond too.

    As mentioned previously by others, do check with the carrier to ensure you have the up to date config for Data.

    ASUS ROG Phone 3 17.0823.2012.122 update release notes: i need zip file plis

  • Data saver is not on, I never turned it on and it was not turned on by the update,

    I do not know what Dual 4G sim is or where to find it but if some how the update turned that on and make the phone not work due to the update then it could be that but I do not think so.

    The APN has not changed if it had the sim would not working in my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge but it dose and the APN is the same as the ROG Phone 3.

    Background

    Updated to 17.0823.2009.99 Internet stopped working on MY phone. A few days later due to a power cut I needed to use the phones mobile internet and it did not work. Checked everything and it did not work. My mother also has a ROG Phone 3 we both bout them at the same time and same place.

    She had not updated to the 17.0823.2009.99 update and her phone was working. I checked all the setting between the two phones and the were exactly the same but her internt worked mine did not.

    I put her simcard in my phone and it did not work. Put my sim card into my old Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and it worked fine. Same APN.

    To confirm it was a firmware/17.0823.2009.99 problem I updated my mothers working phone to the 17.0823.2009.99 update to see if her internet would stop working. Before the 17.0823.2009.99 update it worked fine after updating to the 17.0823.2009.99 update it also stopped working. Exactly the same problem.

    So to put all things in one place,

    1- Factory Reset has been tried

    2- Modem Reset has been tried

    3- APN Has been reset and checked.

    4- Data Saver is off

    5- Phone calls and text messages work.

    6- Simcard tested working in Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, APN also the same.

    7- Tested in both Simcard Tray 1 and 2

    8- SMMI test has been run results below.

    9- Newest Update ( 17.0823.2012.122 ) has been installed before this thread was made and all checks were done.

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    Modem Test = Pass

    SimCard 1 Test = Pass (where my sim is)

    SimCard 2 Test = Fail (but it has no sim in it)

    SimSignal Test = Fail

    This is what it says: (bare in mind only sim 1 tray has a sim at the moment).

    SIM 1

    Network: ASDA Mobile

    Cellular Network status: Disconnected

    HSPA Signal Strength(asu): 32

    HSPA Signal Strength(dBm) -88

    SIM2 Signal: NA

    ------------------------------------------------------------

    As said above this is effecting TWO ROG Phone 3's Both broken by the 17.0823.2009.99 update.

    You're still on .99? (I'm a bit confused as you've mentioned .99 firmware everywhere In your post but .122 in your firmware information box)

    Does the issue still exist on .122?
