  • Android OS don't need anti-virus.

Why it doesn't need anti virus

  • Even though Android is a derivative of Linux , its an an open source product , there are probabilities of attacks. Android is the best source for stealing user information.

When coming to Internet security , i use Kaspersky Internet security. It has in-depth root scanning is there also in its free version but has to be done manually. Pro version has Automatic scanning and real-time protection etc.

One advantage of Samsung device is it has in build Security Application. But others need atleast a free version of a Internet security atleast .

  • If there are probabilities of attacks, then why Google releases security patches every month???

  • I'm using android phones from various brands without antivirus from past 5 years. If you use phone properly there is no antivirus needed. I mean to say if you visit comprised website or opening an email with attachment with virus then your phone will get virus. But by default android doesn't need any anti-virus.

  • Even Microsoft releases security patch for Windows operating system. But still we have Windows defender in Windows 10 and other anti virus too. Google security patches will not defend you from malwares. It will fix the operating system kernel based loop holes.

Many Android based apps are available in Play Store. Even some of the apps are having verified status too. Still there are changes that through these apps there are lot of bolt ware entered silently into our mobile. There are certain bolt ware that can damage even boot loader too.

If are a game lover then , you are the source of this bolt ware to steal information. Internet Security software keep eye on up and down network traffic when we have paid version. But trial version will keep us in making our mobile free from such bolt wares through manual scans

Android phone doesn't need antivirus its useless. Just make sure you dont download apps from unknown sites or any apps that is not available in play store. Only apps can steal your personal data in android. And android phone don't have any virus and doesn't exist . But there are some malware which can get in your phone if you download something from unknown sources.

  • Just don't install any app from unknown source

What you are talking about thats called "PUP" or Potentially Unwanted Program such as apps from unknown sources.

But what about "Web shield"? Don't you consider a threat pop-up as a security concern for your Android device which could cause malware attack or stealing browsing history/cookies when you are browsing through sites on Chrome or any other Web Browser apps?

  • Web shield protection is only protect and restricted you to visit malicious websites. You should know how to handle with pop-ups.and why should you visit to these malicious websites?only these type of pop ups happen in porn websites and piracy websites such as modded apps and games and movies should know how to handle with these unwanted pop-ups.and use only chrome can try adguard or any private DNS to filter unwanted ads on websites.and now talking about browsing history and stored cookies, everyone knows google is stealing our everything.

  • I used to think that Android doesn't need an antivirus. It seemed to me that this platform is sufficiently secure to protect itself. I was wrong and my phone was exposed two weeks ago to malware attacks...

  • What you did then ? Which antivirus did you install?

  • Be cautious, and you need no antivirus on any device. For pc, windows security is far better than any of apps. User installed antivirus takes up so much of resources, so avoid using it. Keep your windows security updated thats all. Same goes for Android too play protect scans for harmful apps if you have installed any. So chill don't waste money on antivirus at least on android phone. It's useless.

  • I use antivirus

  • ESET Mobile Security

    MALWAREBYTES Antimalware

    Virus Total Mobile (Funny Cat)
