I know exactly what you're talking about! I've seen the same screen on my ZenFone as well. And as a past pixel user I recognized it immediately. It's the stock android AOD.My guess is that Asus is bypassing this screen with it's own custom AOD layout...

Yes, when you disable the gallery app and then go to open the photo you just took from the camera app the phone just tells you to do that you have to enable the gallery app. Very obvious Asus doesn't want people using google photos.
