NFC is dead on arrival?

Just bought a brand new ROG Phone 6 straight from ASUS, and NFC doesn't appear to be working. I've turned it on in the settings, and tried to pay for things, and it refuses to work. The phone also can't read any NFC tags I have.What's going on here?
