More than two years of Updates?

I read in a Smartphone Forum that there will be Updates for the Zenfone 9 for more than two years, if the Zenfone is a success for Asus.
Is that true or are that just rumours?
I also expected at least three years for the price of the Zenfone 9

It's crazy that this phone has only 2 years of updates/security patches and after that it becomes obsolete. The worst thing is that Asus doesn't make trade-ins and we will have to sell the phone for pennies if we want to get the next new Zenfone.
