USB File Transfer

I've been having this problem where I plug my phone using my USB cable but all it does is charge it but cant transfer files... I've been checking for updates, rebooted my phone and search solutions online and I still cant figure out whats wrong. Can anyone please help, if anyone has the same problem and solved it already? Thanks!

Thank you for your asking. Kindly try some stay-at-home troubleshooting tips below:
1. After you plug the USB with the device, check the notifications>Charging the device via USB>tap the notification>File transfer
or
Settings>Connected devices>USB>File transfer
Can you even set your USB preferences?
2. Are you using the original cable? Please try with other cable.
3. If the issue appears after any system/apps' download or update, please try to enter "Safe Mode". If the function works well in Safe Mode yet the issue remains out of Safe Mode, please check on any disturbance from the installed 3rd party apps.
