Heavy Battery Drain after Security Update

Dear Asus ,
I am facing heavy battery drain after the latest security update on my Asus ZenFone 5Z Z01RD.
I have tried everything but the battery is draining like anything.
It used to last a full day but just after update , hardly 4-5 hours.

Please help.

Hi saurabhnarayanlal
Thank you for your asking. I came up some home troubleshooting tips below for you to try on
1. Enter "Safe Mode" and leave a 80%-100% phone in sleep(idle) mode in a night, and provide me the screenshot of
①Setting>Battery
②Setting>Battery>3 dots on the top"Show app usage"
# How to enter and exit "Safe Mode"
https://www.asus.com/support/FAQ/1005163/
If the battery works well in "Safe Mode", please check on any disturbance from the installed 3rd party Apps.
2. If the issue remain the same in "Safe Mode", please try "the Factory Reset"
Settings>System>Reset options>Factory data reset
Please note that once the Factory Reset is completed, all data, apps, settings and personal information will be deleted.
3. How old is your battery?

Please tell us some basic information before asking for help:

  1. Model Name: ZS620KL
  2. Firmware Version: .87
  3. Rooted or not: Non-rooted
  4. Frequency of Occurrence: Constantly
  5. APP Name & APP Version (If your issue relates to the app): System

In addition to information above, please also provide as much details as you can, e.g., using scenario, what troubleshooting you've already done, screenshot, etc.

========================================

  1. I felt battery percentage holds on a number for a while and then runs out quick suddenly after moderate or heavy use, instead real-time monitoring the charge as expected.
  2. It happens too when 100% charged, then - when unplugged - it drains the first 10% very quick.
  3. Now, I needed to restart the device with 5%, it just turned off, didn't try to turn on again and just shown the empty battery.

Could you take a look on the sensor settings?

It seems this is a recurrent bug of the Android 10 builds on 5Z.

Already tried:

  • Wipe data/Factory reset (nothing changed)
  • Other Android 10 builds (nothing changed)
  • Battery calibration (nothing changed)
  • Downgrade to 9 (but I can't stay there because of low wi-fi signal bug and security patches)

[5Z] Battery percentage not precise.
