How to disable audio for ALL notifications, but allow phone call sounds?

I know "do not disturb" is one option, but weirdly this mode always spawns a notification by itself which can't seem to be prevented. Also: Android has so many features today that I hope to have missed a better solution.

If you're looking for a way to silence notifications completely without triggering any "do not disturb" notifications on Android, you might want to explore a few alternative solutions:

App-Specific Notification Settings:

  • Check if the app that's generating notifications has its own notification settings within the app. Some apps allow you to customize notifications or turn them off entirely from within their settings.

Notification Channels:

  • Android allows you to manage notification channels for individual apps. Go to Settings > Apps & notifications > App info > [App Name] > App notifications. From here, you can disable specific notification channels or adjust their settings to reduce or silence notifications.

Priority Mode:

  • Instead of using "do not disturb," you can try using Priority mode. This mode allows you to customize which notifications are allowed through. Go to Settings > Sound > Do not disturb > Priority only allows. Here, you can select what types of notifications you want to receive.

Third-Party Apps:

  • Consider using third-party apps from the Google Play Store that offer advanced notification management features. Apps like "Notification Blocker & Cleaner" or "AppNotifier" may provide more granular control over notifications.

Automation with Tasker or Automate:

  • Apps like Tasker or Automate allow you to create custom automation rules. You can create a rule to automatically mute notifications from specific apps or during certain times of the day without triggering "do not disturb" notifications.

System UI Tuner:

  • On some Android devices, you can access hidden settings through the System UI Tuner. Enable System UI Tuner by long-pressing the gear icon in the Quick Settings menu. In System UI Tuner, look for additional notification settings that may not be available in the standard settings menu.

These methods offer alternatives to the traditional "do not disturb" mode and may provide more flexibility in managing notifications without generating additional unwanted notifications. Experiment with these options to find the best solution that suits your needs. gm-socrates
