Keeping laptop always connected to AC power deteriorate adapter health?

I had problem with my adapter of Asus Tuf, but I wasn't sure why the problem appeared in first place. The problem was like, laptop was keep on changing btw charging and discharging state cyclically forever (every 3 sec), some of my colleagues said it's because I always keep the adapter connected to AC power, but I thought keeping my laptop always connected wouldn't deteriorate my battery health, So what's the optimum thing I should now? Should I keep my laptop always connected to AC power, not caring the adapter health, or it was totally a different cause for the failure of my adapter, help me out ppl
