Connect NAS to zenWIFI ZD5

currently i have setup my NAS to connect to the XD5 main unit, its working fine. my 2nd unit mesh is at another room.

i want to connect the NAS to the 2nd unit of the XD5. but it is not working.

no light on the LAN port of the NAS when i connect the NAS to the 2nd mesh unit.

what changes i need to make to connect the NAS to the 2nd mesh unit ?

Hi @yeowkm ,

Regarding the connection issue between your NAS and Mesh unit, we recommend that you check the following settings one by one:

IP settings:

  1. IP address: Please ensure that the NAS and the second Mesh unit are in different IP subnets to avoid IP conflicts.
  2. Subnet mask: Ensure that the subnet masks of both are exactly the same.
  3. Gateway: The gateway of the NAS should be set to point to the second Mesh unit.

Mesh network settings:

  1. Backplane settings: Please check the backplane settings of the XD5 to ensure that the connection between the two Mesh units is stable.
  2. Wireless channel: Try adjusting the wireless channel to avoid interference with other wireless devices.

Hardware check:

  1. Network cable: Replace the network cable to confirm if the connection is unstable due to a faulty network cable.
  2. Network card: Try connecting the NAS to other network ports or devices to rule out the possibility of a network card failure.

Device reset: If the above methods still cannot solve the problem, we recommend that you reset the NAS and the second Mesh unit to factory settings and reconfigure them according to the instructions.
