The High Dynamic Range imaging, or HDR in short, allows you to capture better-quality photos with well-balanced light when you used at a scene in extreme dark and/or light areas. This feature automatically controls the contrast between dark and light surroundings and balances them to make your subjects vivid, well-lighted and more defined.
To capture photos with HDR mode, tap 
from the Camera app, then tap HDR.

In this sample photo,HDR mode is not yet applied until you press the 
button. When you press the button, your camera adjusts itself to lighting condition of the subject and gives a well-defined shot.
