[Healthcare system] Guide to measuring blood pressure using ASUS VivoWatch 6

(1) What is Blood Pressure?

ASUS VivoWatch utilizes cutting-edge wearable technology to capture signals through electrical and PPG optical sensors. The speed of blood flow in the blood vessels is calculated by measuring the time difference between these signals, and the pressure exerted on the vessel walls is assessed. This allows the wristband to provide valuable insights into health and emotional stress levels.

(2) How to Measure Blood Pressure with ASUS VivoWatch 6

Step 1: Activate the blood pressure measurement function.

Step 2: Lightly touch the sensor on the bottom left of the watch body with your thumb while stabilizing your index finger on the metal ring on the watch face. Maintain a steady posture.

Step 3: Upon completion of the measurement, your current systolic pressure, diastolic pressure, and heart rate will be promptly displayed on the screen.

Step 4: The health data obtained will be seamlessly synchronized with your ASUS HealthConnect App on your smartphone.

(3) Tips for Obtaining Accurate Blood Pressure Results

1.     Ensure that ASUS VivoWatch 6 is clean and dry before measurement.

2.     Before measurement, position your arm, with the watch, flat on a stable surface to minimize movement-induced signal interference. Adopt a relaxed, static sitting posture with your back supported against a chair's backrest and your feet firmly planted on the floor.

3.     When initiating the blood pressure measurement, lightly touch the sensor on the screen with your thumb while stabilizing your index finger on the metal ring for added support. Maintain stillness, calmness, and relaxation throughout the measurement process, ensuring optimal contact between the watch back and your wrist.

(4) Common Mistakes to Avoid in Blood Pressure Measurement

1.     Refrain from applying excessive pressure with your thumb on the sensor, which may disrupt signal reception. Excessive force can compress the fingertip's capillaries, impairing the sensor's accuracy.

2.     Avoid lifting your thumb from the sensor during the measurement, as intermittent contact may compromise signal stability and result in inaccurate readings.

3.     Minimize distractions and physical activities during blood pressure measurement. Refrain from vigorous exercise, smoking, or consuming caffeinated beverages beforehand.

(5) Troubleshooting Unsuccessful Blood Pressure Measurements

1. Make sure the ASUS VivoWatch 6's MCU FW is updated via ASUS HealthConnect to the latest firmware version (Go to ASUS HealthConnect > Device > Software Update > Check for Updates).

2. Verify that your personal information, including gender, age, height, weight, and preferred wrist, is correctly configured in ASUS HealthConnect.

3. Check the snugness of the watch strap and ensure proper watch adherence back to your wrist during measurement.

4. Consider lightly moistening your fingers with water or moisturizer to enhance sensor contact.

(6) Individuals Unsuitable for Blood Pressure Monitoring

Individuals such as pregnant women and those with known cardiovascular conditions, including arrhythmias, heart failure, peripheral vascular diseases, or aortic valve-related disorders, are advised against using the blood pressure function.
